Nestled in the heart of the mighty Himalayas, the Everest region is celebrated for its stunning landscapes and the warm hospitality of the Sherpa community. This trek not only reveals the majesty of the world's highest peak but also immerses you in the rich culture and traditions of Nepal.
Spanning over 14 days, the Everest Base Camp trek takes you to an altitude of approximately 5,364 meters, offering breathtaking views of numerous 8,000-meter summits. Marvel at the awe-inspiring panoramas of Pumori, Lhotse, Nuptse, Lobuche, and, of course, the iconic Mt. Everest. The adventure kicks off with a thrilling 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla during January, February, June, July, August, September, and December. Alternatively, a 20-minute flight from Manthali/Ramechhap to Lukla, combined with a 5 to 6-hour drive from Kathmandu to Manthali, is scheduled in March, April, May, October, and November.
The trek begins and ends in Lukla, following the Dudh Koshi River's banks and traversing the Sagarmatha National Park en route to Namche Bazaar—an essential acclimatization hub in the Everest region. Though challenging, the trek unfolds against a backdrop of lush forests, farmlands, hills, and towering mountains, inspiring you to persevere. After a day of acclimatization in Namche Bazaar, the journey continues to Tengboche, where the renowned Tengboche Monastery awaits exploration. The trail then leads to Dingboche and onward to Lobuche, providing breathtaking views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, and more.
Advancing further, the trek proceeds to Gorak Shep, tracing the Khumbu Glacier until reaching the revered Everest Base Camp. The world's deepest glacier, the Khumbu Glacier, unveils its grandeur at this point. The night is spent in Gorak Shep. The subsequent day includes an ascent to Kala Patthar, where the sunrise paints Mt. Everest and its neighboring peaks in warm hues. After savoring the spectacle, the descent to Pheriche Village ensues.
Retracing the path to Tengboche, passing through rhododendron and juniper-laden forests, the trek progresses to Namche and concludes in Lukla. A flight back to Kathmandu marks the triumphant completion of the Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal.

Hop on board for a truly unforgettable experience as we take a short 30-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Brace yourself for breathtaking views of majestic mountain landscapes during the journey. Upon landing in Lukla, the gateway to the Everest Base Camp Trek, we'll take a break for a couple of hours. Here, we'll enjoy some hot tea and snacks while acclimating to the higher elevation.
Our adventure kicks off as we follow the Dudh Koshi river downhill, passing mani walls adorned with prayer flags. These walls, crafted from small rocks engraved with Buddhist mantras, are a common sight along our trail. The path offers enticing views of mist-covered forested ridges and towering mountains above the clouds. Crossing a suspension bridge, we'll reach the delightful Sherpa village of Ghat before finally arriving at Phakding, where we'll spend our first night in a local teahouse or trekking lodge.
Start your day with a hearty breakfast and a steaming mug of tea as we witness the sunrise over the lush pine forest along the Dudh Koshi riverbanks. As we trek beneath the forest canopy, be on the lookout for hidden waterfalls glistening in the morning light. As the forest thins out, our first view of Mount Everest will appear, accompanied by the ice-covered peaks of Thamserku and Kangtega.
After lunch, we'll venture into the scenic forests of Sagarmatha National Park. If you're lucky, you might spot musk deer and Himalayan tahr wandering among stands of pine and juniper, and keep an eye out for over 200 bird species. As we gradually ascend, the mountains will dominate the landscape, leading us to the bustling trading hub of Namche Bazaar. Known as the capital of the Khumbu, its iconic semicircular layout has featured in many travelers' postcards. We'll spend the next two nights in the best available trekking lodge.
Today is a crucial opportunity for our bodies to adapt to the increased elevation. Nestled at approximately 3,440 meters, Namche Bazaar offers a day of leisure to explore the town and its surroundings. Delve into the rich history and traditions of the Sherpa people at the Sherpa Culture Museum or wander through the various stalls and shops scattered across town. Namche Bazaar is renowned for its bakeries, and treating yourself to some fresh pastries with a backdrop of mountain views is a must.
For those seeking more activity, consider a short acclimatization excursion to Syangboche Airport, one of the world's highest airports unused by commercial airlines. Alternatively, embark on a hike to the renowned Hotel Everest View, boasting the best panoramic views of Namche Bazaar. After a day of rest and exploration, return to your hotel for a second night of well-deserved rest.
Our journey on the Everest Base Camp Trek continues as we leave Namche Bazaar early in the morning. As we embark on the trail, be sure not to miss the memorial stupa dedicated to Tenzing Norgay, the first person to ascend Everest alongside Edmund Hillary. Descending to the rushing waters of the Dudh Koshi, we then ascend through the lush rhododendron forest on our way to Tengboche.
Tengboche is renowned for its majestic Tengboche Monastery, set against the dramatic backdrop of Ama Dablam. This captivating monastery holds significant importance as a pilgrimage site for Buddhist Sherpas, especially during the Mani Rimdu festival. We'll spend the night in one of Tengboche's excellent teahouses, where you can anticipate a hearty meal and a peaceful night's rest.
Our journey on the Everest Base Camp Trek resumes after breakfast, taking us deeper into the heart of the Khumbu region. Today's adventure involves crossing suspension bridges over the Imja Khola and Khumbu Khola rivers. While many trekkers head towards the village of Pheriche, we opt for a gentler route with better views, leading us to Dingboche.
In Dingboche, you'll be treated to a captivating view of Everest, Lhotse, and Imja Tse, renowned as Island Peak. We'll spend the next two nights in the best available teahouse or lodge. Tomorrow, you can anticipate a day of relaxation and exploration in the picturesque mountain hamlet.
Situated at an elevation of 4,360 meters above sea level, Dingboche provides us with another opportunity for acclimatization today. However, this doesn't mean you have to spend the day idly. After relishing the breathtaking sunrise over the mountains, we can embark on a challenging day hike to Nagarjun Hill. Despite its name, even the hills in the Khumbu resemble mountains, and standing atop Nagarjun Hill offers astonishing views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and Thamserku. For those opting for a shorter hike, there's an excellent viewpoint on the ridgeline above Dingboche, reaching just over 5,000 meters and taking approximately two hours to reach. Whichever way you choose to spend the day, a delectable supper and a cozy evening await, providing opportunities to connect with locals and fellow trekkers.
Leaving Dingboche behind and feeling the pull of the trail leading us towards Everest Base Camp, today's trek commences with a gradual ascent through a series of small mountainside villages. Keep an eye out for charming stone-built settlements, often utilized seasonally by herders. Continuing onward, we'll encounter the more substantial town of Tukla or Dughla. Beyond this village, a climb up a ridge brings us to a small cluster of memorials dedicated to deceased climbers, offering an incredible view of the Himalayan giants, Pumori, and Khumbutse. The journey then proceeds to Lobuche, where numerous lodges cater to trekkers. We'll choose one of the most comfortable options to ensure a warm night's sleep as the cold night air settles over the mountains.
The highly anticipated day has arrived! Today, we embark on the final leg of the journey to Everest Base Camp. Starting early, make sure to pace yourself and stay hydrated to prevent altitude sickness symptoms as we approach Gorak Shep, the first landmark of the day and the last permanent settlement on the Everest Base Camp Trek. We'll revisit Gorak Shep later in the day. For now, our path continues towards base camp, following the trail along a glacial moraine. Upon reaching base camp, colorful prayer flags, commemorating trekkers' achievements, surround you, providing a 360-degree view of the majestic mountains in the entire Himalayan range. After relishing this unforgettable experience, we'll shoulder our bags and descend back to Gorak Shep, where we'll spend the night in one of the town's best teahouses.
Even if you've already visited Everest Base Camp and returned, your adventure continues. A trip to the Khumbu isn't complete without hiking to the breathtaking viewpoint of Kala Patthar. From this vantage point, you'll enjoy an even more impressive view of the world's tallest mountain than from the base camp. Setting out from Gorak Shep in the early dawn, we'll reach Kala Patthar just as the morning sun bathes the landscape in its full glory. Undoubtedly the best 360-degree view in the entire Himalayas, where the mountains Pumori and Lhotse appear almost within reach. Once you've absorbed the stunning scenery, we'll trace our steps back down the ridgeline, bidding farewell to Gorak Shep, and head towards Pheriche. We'll spend the night here, indulging in a hot meal and a cozy bed at the finest trekking lodge available.
This morning, after a satisfying breakfast, we'll descend to the Imja Khola River, tracing its path through the lush greenery of the forest. Passing several quaint villages along the way, we'll reach Tengboche in approximately two or three hours, providing an opportunity to admire the town's unforgettable monastery during our lunch break. After replenishing our energy, we'll make our way back to Namche Bazaar. The trek back to Khumbu's bustling trading town will take about four to five hours, traversing ridgelines adorned with low-lying shrubs. We'll spend the night in Namche, so take advantage of the opportunity to revisit your favorite bakery and witness the sunset over the mountains.
Today marks the final leg of our Everest Base Camp Trek, so lace up your hiking boots for one last adventure! We have approximately six hours of trekking ahead, navigating a steep trail along the Dudh Koshi River. Crossing a suspension bridge and passing through the villages of Phakding and Monjo, we'll make our triumphant return to Lukla, where our incredible journey began. Tonight, we'll stay in Lukla, a charming town popular among travelers. Don't forget to explore the cafes and restaurants, celebrating your achievement of completing the Everest Base Camp Trek! Congratulations!
On your departure day, we'll board a 30-minute flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. As your plane lifts off from Lukla's dramatic runway, take a final look at the majestic mountains beneath the wings. Before you know it, you'll touch down in Kathmandu. Upon arrival, we'll transfer you to your hotel in the city. Absolutely Maskey jee !
this is amazing news. i’m glad you are starting your own business. we always talk about EBC, it is such a special journey.
Bhuwan Maskey Jee was our guide to Everest Base Camp, which both my husband and I completed successfully. He went into great details on what our itinerary would look like every day, from expected altitude impacts, to trekking difficulty. he knows the history and traditions of the himalayas and ensures his guests are always aware, comfortable and safe. we trekked at the right pace, and treated our journey as a pilgrimage, not an athletic feat. I highly recommend him as a guide.
